This is a warning poster based on a famous line in the video game The Legend of Zelda for the NES. As you can see, you should not go alone unless you have a sword. Very important to keep in mind.
My inspiration for this was based on my love for video games, including The Legend of Zelda. The Legend of Zelda is a retro game that came out in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The NES is one of the oldest video game home consoles to come out, and so is an important part of gaming culture and of technology as a whole. Games tend to get referenced a lot in media alongside movie and tv show references. They are a huge part of internet culture today, and for those reasons, I chose to make this poster be a reference to that game.
Making this took less than an hour in Photoshop, since it was pretty easy to put together. For the sword, I based the design on the sword on the Zelda 8-bit sword sprite. I used the rectangle tool to make solid rectangles, and placed them in such a way to make a sword. Then I rounded the edges out using the reshape option on each rectangle. The person in the poster was taken straight from Adobe stock images, so that was the easiest part. after that, the text was added using the text tool in the Myriad font. I put the text and sword on a layer on top of the stock image on top of a white background. Of course I also had to resize the image to be poster shaped, but after that the rest is history.
